Here's one for you. I have been trying to update my laptop with the latest service pack for vista. It never seems to complete the download/install. I delete the partial download and try again, but that doesn't help. I had a similar problem with my main computer last year and I think it was Term who help me out with that.
Any ideas??

Do you get any error codes?
Have you gone to the manufacturers web site and look at the help or faq sections?
You didn't state the make and model number.

No error code.
Yes I have gone to Acer & Microsoft. No help that I could find. However, I am going to check again.
It's an Acer 3680 Laptop

Thanks Term

Just wondering, would you be able to use that Microsoft Uninstall Cleanup utility? In the past, I have had bad downloads or installs and I was unable to complete installs because of some bad registry entries. Using that utility, I was able to erase any trace of it and start again successfully. Term or Hit might know best on this...

Well this is very strange. For some reason, the latest attempt at upgrading worked. I have no idea what I did to make it work. I hate computers!! :x
Anyway, problem resolved. Thanks for all the input guys. :D

Glsd it's working again Mav. This reminds of a similar problems I had with Vista a while back, a problem I never found a solution to but miraculously cleared up on its own. Like yours, Windows Update wouldn't download anything and then Windows Explorer would stop working. I'd have to reboot to get an internet connection again but Windows Update just wouldn't work. Then out of the blue it started working again. Haven't had a problem since...counting down the days to Win7...

I know this is a long done deal Mav but I hope that you have already ditched VISTA and moved onward and upward to Windows 7 which actually works rather well. VISTA was about as much use as chocolate underpants for marines.
